The Business Banking Director will be responsible for all aspects of Business Banking Relationship Management at Citadel Credit Union. Specifically responsible for the Retention, Acquisition, and Expansion of all Business Banking Relationship Managed members. At the direction of the Chief Commercial Banking Officer, the chosen candidate will lead the development of strategy and execution of Citadel's Business Banking program. Responsible for ensuring the member experience is in line with Citadel's overall mission, brand, and strategy. Collaborates and maintains strong relationships and communication with Senior Management, Member facing leadership and other key stakeholders. Responsibilities Business Planning Direct management responsibilities for the organizations BBRMs. Provides effective small business banking planning. Participates in long and short-term planning and business banking strategy development for Citadel. Develops and maintains business banking policies and procedures and ensures they complement organizational goals. Develops and maintains business banking learning and development plan specifically for the Business Banking Relationship Managers. Works to skill up BBRMs on product knowledge, cash flow awareness, proper member profiling, and business credit & payment fluency. Stays informed regarding developments and changes in small business banking services, market conditions, local competition and related laws and regulations. Leads and/or collaborates in leading the small business banking strategy alongside regional leadership and in full alignment with Retail Strategy. Engages in membership discovery practices to continuously understand the needs ofthe business member for future solution identification, development, and implementation. Business Development Oversees and is responsible for the Citadels small business banking growth efforts for new relationships. Responsible for the stewardship and maintenance of existing relationships. Recommends tactical execution planning to obtain growth, profitability, and other related targets. Responsible for promoting, facilitating, and modeling sales and service to build member relationships ensuring that activities achieve Citadel's desired objectives. Understands the local market and competitors and shares information with other colleagues and Senior Management. Manages and Executes against a sales process focused on managing activities and inspecting outcomes. Manages Business Banking Credit pipeline, prescreen, and reconsiderations. Integrates Payments holistic cash management solutions fully into the sales process. Business Banking Services Execution Ensures members are provided with safe and sound, cost effective and efficientservices and products to help them reach their financial objectives. Offers creative solutions to meet the business banking needs of our members. Ensures that business banking activities are conducted in accordance with established policy guidelines and standards and are properly documented. Ensures members are properly informed of Citadel policies and procedures. Ensures the maintenance of statistics relative to business banking, including account summaries, profitability, etc. Collaborates with Citadel's Business Lending team in monitoring the credit quality of the member businesses in the portfolio and assist with gathering tax records, financial statements, cash flows, etc. Effectively administers business banking functions. Manages and oversees the Business Banking Relationship Manager budget and expenses. Pursues revenue-improving and cost-saving measures. Keeps Senior Management informed of progress toward established objectives, and of any significant issues. Completes required reports and related documents promptly and accurately, and in compliance with Citadel's guidelines and policies. Ensures the maintenance of department records. Attends meetings and participates in committees as required. Effectively leads team members, ensuring optimal performance. Communicates Citadels Business Banking vision and strategy to members of the Retail Banking team that helps each team member understand their role in assisting Citadel achieve success. Provides leadership to team through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts staff meetings as required. Assigns, directs, and coordinates work. Directs, appraises, and coaches team and ensures that all business banking services are professionally delivered and prepares them for the possibility of greater responsibility in the future. Works with Learning and Leadership to ensure that staff and managers are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Assists with department succession planning through identifying potential successors and assisting in creating Leadership Development Plans for potential successors. Conducts performance appraisals and provides feedback to team. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. Manages staffing levels and assures human resources are effectively utilized. Conducts interviews and assists with hiring as needed. Strives to create employee engagement across the credit union. Experience working in a new line of business in an existing financial institution is preferred. Experience effectively implementing management through influence skills. Has the ability to operate at a tactical level and ensure operational excellence through others. Demonstrates ability to utilize leadership best practices to plan, direct, schedule and review the work performance team members in a manner that is conducive to proficient performance and high morale. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Senior Management, other departments, and outside service-related agencies and vendors. Strong client relationship skills. Develops and maintains professional business relationships with members, staff, vendors, the business community, and trade organizations Ensures that business banking activities are well coordinated with other Citadel operations. Encourages and supports Citadel mission, values, brand, promise and purpose. Promotes Citadel's sales and service culture. Ensures that members' requests, issues and questions are prompt and effectively resolved. Actively participates in community organizations by serving on committees and boards when appropriate. Qualifications 10+ years in financial services, including expertise in Business/Commercial banking and business development. Business/Commercial Relationship Management leadership with a regional or national bank or credit union. Formal Commercial/Business Banking Credit Training required. Demonstrates ability to utilize leadership best practices to plan, direct, schedule and review the work performance team members in a manner that is conducive to with effective service delivery and leadership. Experience and contacts within the business markets Citadel serves. Experience working in a new line of business in an existing financial institution is preferred. Experience effectively implementing management through influence skills. Has the ability to operate at a tactical level and ensure operational excellence through others. proficient performance and high morale. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Senior Management, other departments, and outside service-related agencies and vendors Strong client relationship skills. Education Bachelor's degree preferred. Additional Skills/Notes Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to write clear, concise projects, plans, documentation, memos, and email, facilitate team meetings, and deliver presentations. Excellent analytical abilities. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple, high-level tasks simultaneously. This individual must have the ability to travel and work in various locations throughout the retail network. Initiative-taking and goal/solution oriented. Ability to work collaboratively and independently as situations warrant. Performance Measurements Performance is based on the Citadel corporate scorecard as well as departmental and individual goals.
