Facilities Development and Management at ASU employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States. Facilities Development and Management will not be a sponsor for this position. This position is located at the Tempe campus, Tempe, AZ (on Rural Road south of Apache Blvd). Must possess a valid Arizona drivers license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire. This position requires working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule and may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of all background, including fingerprint checks. Facilities Development and Management at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks a Director of Grounds Services to lead and oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the university's four main campuses, including athletic venues. This position is a pivotal contributor to ASU's mission, ensuring that the grounds reflect the universitys commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community impact. In this role, you will manage multi-site grounds operations, prioritize environmental stewardship, and lead a team dedicated to maintaining safe, welcoming, and aesthetically inspiring campuses. You will develop and implement strategic plans, optimize resources, and promote a positive work environment aligned with ASU's vision of inclusivity and excellence. Essential Duties Provide leadership for grounds maintenance and landscaping operations across ASU's campuses and athletic venues. Develop and implement eco-friendly, proactive landscaping and maintenance programs that align with ASU's sustainability goals. Collaborate with university leaders to support events and ensure athletic venues meet high operational standards. Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative team culture. Direct recruitment, training, and performance evaluations for staff, fostering professional growth and team excellence. Analyze campus needs, implement improvement projects, and allocate resources effectively to ensure campus grounds remain welcoming and functional. Oversee contracts and vendor relationships to ensure alignment with ASU's goals and standards. Manage budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with university objectives. Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, promoting a culture of safety and accountability. DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM Desired Qualifications Certification in grounds management or horticulture (e.g., Certified Grounds Manager (CGM) Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM)). Master's degree in a related field. Experience with athletic facilities and large-scale event spaces. Familiarity with Arizona's climate and sustainable plant species. Evidence of effective communication skills"‹"‹"‹"‹"‹ Working Environment Tasks may involve extended periods outdoors, exposure to extreme weather, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Some duties are performed in an office setting with extensive use of computers and university vehicles. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree and seven (7) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
