Manufacturing Engineer Location: Liverpool, NY Job ID: #70312 Pay Range: $42-50 Job Description: As a Lean Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our manufacturing operations and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that support our customers needs. Primary Focus: Implementing Single Piece Flow Lines and Driving Lean Manufacturing Excellence Job Summary: As a Lean Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in transforming our manufacturing processes to achieve world-class efficiency, quality, and productivity. Your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and sustaining single piece flow lines, which are production systems that produce one piece of product at a time, reducing waste and maximizing value-added activities. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design and Implement Single Piece Flow Lines: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement single piece flow lines that meet production requirements, reduce lead times, and improve quality. This includes: - Analyzing existing processes to identify waste and opportunities for improvement - Developing and implementing process improvements using lean principles and tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen events) - Designing and installing new equipment and layouts to support single piece flow 2. Apply Lean Manufacturing Principles: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by applying lean principles to eliminate waste, reduce variability, and improve flow. This includes: - Identifying and eliminating non-value-added activities (waste) in production processes - Implementing standardized work and visual management systems - Developing and implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs to ensure equipment reliability 3. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with production teams, supervisors, and other stakeholders to: - Communicate changes and improvements to production processes - Provide training and coaching on new processes and lean principles - Monitor and address concerns or issues related to single piece flow lines 4. Analyze and Improve Performance: Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of single piece flow lines and identify opportunities for further improvement. This includes: - Developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead time, throughput, and quality - Conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure sustainability of improvements 5. Support Continuous Improvement: Participate in Kaizen events, workshops, and other improvement activities to: - Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement - Develop and implement solutions to address these opportunities Scope and Expectations: Work closely with production teams and supervisors to implement and sustain single piece flow lines Collaborate with other departments (e.g., quality, maintenance, engineering) to ensure alignment and support Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and partners to ensure delivery of high-quality materials and services Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in lean manufacturing and single piece flow Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and tools Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills Benefits provided: 401K, medical, dental, and vision, sick time as applicable to state law.
