SummaryThe Media Production Specialist cultivates a dynamic creative media environment for the Communication departments faculty, staff, and students. This person serves as both a technical guide and collaborative partner in producing media projects. They not only operate and maintain state-of-the-art production equipment, editing suites, and studio systems, but engage in creative uses of department facilities and technology.This role requires a passion for contemporary media, an understanding of changing medialandscapes, and the ability to inspire and support the technical and creative aspects of media productions.Schedule details: The Media Production Specialists work schedule varies with the Academic year. The usual schedule is M-TH, 12:30 pm - 9 pm, F, 11 am - 5 pm. Summer hours are M-F, 9am-5pm.This schedule may also vary during periods of heavy demand on media production areas, during special events, or when the Media Center Manager is away for extended periods.This position is In-PersonEssential FunctionsAs directed by the Media Center Manager, provides production support and supervision to all users of the Department of Communication production resources.Trains, assists, and supervises Media Center Work Study Staff to assist with these support services.Plays a lead role in the operation, supervision, and maintenance of the Communication DepartmentsMedia Lab, Edit Suites, Audio Suites, Radio Station, Control Room, and Production Studios.These facilities provide students with resources to record and edit media, stage special events, holdmeetings, among other activities.Trains, assists, and supervises Media Center Work Study Staff to assist in these support services.Plays a lead role in operating, supervising and maintaining the Communication Departments EquipmentServices program, including:Supervising lending services for production equipment, including cameras, lights, microphones, etc.Training, assisting and supervising Media Center Work Study Staff who assist in the operation of equipment servicesPerforms periodic equipment research, testing, maintenance, and inventory.Maintains an up-to-date, complete and accurate equipment inventory report that is available on demand.Assists with the equipment ordering process in a timely manner by researching and assessing product options to support informed purchasing decisions.Promptly onboards and thoroughly tests all new equipment upon delivery.With a training agenda and schedule directed by the Media Center Manager, conducts Self Professional Development Training (SPDT) on a regular, ongoing basis by utilizing free, self-paced training tutorials and other resources available on the internet, in books, in the library, etc. Maintains a Training Log to document this SPDT.Performs other production-related duties as directed by the Media Center Manager, including:Providing additional forms of technical supportConducting additional forms of product research and testingOrganizing and cleaning production facilities and equipment to maintain professional standards and optimal operations.Qualifications/RequirementsA Bachelors degree in any discipline is required.1-3 years of relevant experienceMust be able to work evenings as required by the schedule (posted above)Ability to research technical options to maintain and upgrade production operations.Basic record-keeping duties and routine communications.Ability to communicate with other staff, students, and faculty.Benefits: Barry University offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees that includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, tuition assistance, paid time off and work/life balance initiatives such as wellness programs, spirituality in the workplace, and training and development.Barry University is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
