Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionJOB TITLEExecutive Director of Education DEPARTMENTEducation AdministrationSUPERVISORYYesREPORTS TOVP of education and Career ServicesEEO ClassificationProfessionalSUMMARY:The Executive Director of Education (EDOE) is responsible for development and oversight of associate degree/hybrid programs, working in collaboration with the Executive Director of Nursing, the Director of Education and the Program Development Manager. This includes developing curriculum, policies, report compilation and management of programs. Ensures the academic integrity of the programs and supports innovations in programs and methods of delivery that respond in a timely manner to a rapidly changing environment. The EDOE provides leadership, vision, direction and advocacy for a comprehensive array of student affairs, which support completion and students success in meeting their educational goals. The EDOE supports the campus academic teams to promote effective instructional services and academic initiatives. S/he brings forward recommendations concerning campus-wide cooperative ventures, communication and allocation of resources to the Vice President of Education and Career Services.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Develop and manage curriculum for degree programs; review and update program course outlines, standardized final examinations and course materials, and facilitates review process.Ensure that the activities of the associate degree program meet the requirements of the schools accrediting and licensing agencies.Ensure thorough research, evaluation and collaboration with EDON, DOE, and PDM that all hybrid courses are engaging and meets the needs of our faculty and students.Manage associate degree programs textbook and software review, identification, and implementation.Ensures the availability and integration of pertinent and reliable instructor resources made available through publishers and other sources.Participates as a member of the leadership team and assists the Vice President and other senior executives in achieving priority institutional objectives identified in the Strategic PlanOversee the creation of a comprehensive, integrated retention plan, in cooperation with the Vice President of Education and Career ServicesOversee the systematic and routine assessment of all academic and student programs and services to measure and plan continuous improvement.In collaboration with the EDON and DOE, develop and/or modify educational policies including SAP, POG, ADA, and instructor qualifications.Evaluate educational functions as a member of the internal audit team.Ensure the completion of reports required for annual development, Faculty Development and Retention reporting, and any State of Michigan and accreditation reports.Manage the training of new program directors, lead instructors, faculty and externship/internships coordinators in educational policies and procedures related to associate degree programs.Identify and monitor, along with the campuss faculty development opportunities.Assist education team with semi-annual commencement exercises, annual advisory board meetings, Constitution Day, and all faculty in-services.Ensure that the associate degree programs offer an inclusive environment that celebrates and promotes understanding and respect within a diverse student body, staff and communityEnsure that academic programs that directly support the needs of the community are initiated and maintained by annually reviewing the program mix.Serves as the primary contact for local, state, and accrediting agencies in matters pertaining to associate degree programs.Development of hospital and work sites externship sites ensuring that Affiliation Agreements are developed, reviews, executed, and updated with each site where our externship/internships students are placed.All other duties as assigned.RequirementsKNOWLEDGE - SKILLS - ABILITIES:Must display exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as active listening; ability to communicate well with staff and students.Must be able to effectively lead, motivate, and manage staff and teams.Must be reliable with strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.Must be resourceful and able to problem solve; strong initiative and solid judgment required.Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.Must be proficient with basic office equipment, computers, and computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.WORKING CONDITIONS:Travel: Local campus and hospital and other work site visitsMay be required to work early on occasion (for hospital visits) and occasionally on evenings/weekends (for campus visits and annual in-service trainings)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree required.Masters degree preferred.Knowledge of educational theory and techniquesTeaching experience required in postsecondary and or vocational/technical education.The candidate must demonstrate a history of effective leadership through teamwork and organization.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
