ROLE: Elementary Math TeacherREPORTS TO: SCHOOL PRINCIPALMISSION: Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls Charter School, The Shirley Rodriguez-Remeneski School (BGLIG, pronounced Big League) will provide an exceptional education to young girls through dual language instruction in a technology-rich environment, while building on cultural heritage to foster leadership characteristics and strong values, promote self-confidence and create global leaders. A single-sex environment coupled with a rigorous instructional program ensures that each student is able to disengage from traditional social pressures and focus on personal development and academic achievement.Position OverviewAt Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls Charter School, ElementaryTeachers understand and promote the schools mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing an instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in a dual language setting, in accordance with the schools mission and values established by its charter.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):Instructional Planning & DeliveryPlan, prepare and deliver lessons to all students in the class; including students with Individual Education. Plans (IEPs) and English Language Learner (ELL) classifications in an inclusive, dual language supportive setting.Use data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices for greater student outcomes.Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, dual language and school-wide functions.Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methods.Use consistent schoolwide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage all students in the classroom.Use technology tools for instruction, planning and communication, and ensure student engagement.Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goals.Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their fullest potential. Establish, model, practice and reinforce age appropriate rules and discipline using school approved procedures; create and consistently use individual behavioral management plans as needed.Implement classroom procedures, systems and routines that provide structure for students.Ensure smooth operation of all classroom instructional functions without exceptions.Set personal and professional goals with administrators.Student Support & School CultureCommunicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and with BGLIG families.Support the dual language program by making connections between English and Spanish language instruction, creating dual language projects and instructional opportunities, and supporting all students as language learners.Establish, involve, and assist students in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of portfolios.Develop and use rubrics for evaluating student products and performances.Oversee and assist with student arrival / dismissal.Work closely with all members of the school community, model citizenship, collaboration and support of one another.QualificationsAlignment to BGLIGs core values and mission.Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree in the field of education preferred.NYS teaching certification required.Experience in a high performing charter or district school preferred but not required.Strong classroom management skills.Strong knowledge of Common Core.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff.Intermediate to advanced Spanish language skills preferred.Proficient in use of technology, including various G Suite teaching tools.Salary & BenefitsOur salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individuals skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
