Job DescriptionA prominent law school in the heart of Manhattan is looking for a Financial Aid Counselor. The selected individual would provide system support and perform electronic processes which moves various data files between the Department of Education and the schools Banner system.Key ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities for this position **Manage and respond to inquiries from the financial aid inbox and phone lineManage the financial aid internal calendarAssist in other administrative duties such as budget loan increases, scholarship adjustments, certification of private and bar study loans, academic status changes for continuing students, etc.Assist with the counseling of incoming and continuing students in the financial aid processAssist the Executive Director of Financial Aid with internal and external financial aid reportingCoordinate and oversee the donor scholarship processAny other duties needed to help drive the schools goals, priorities and outcomes, as well as fulfill the mission statement and abide the organizational valuesRequirementsA college degree is requiredMinimum 2 years related experience in higher educationMust have experience in Banner, proficient in Microsoft Office SuiteStrong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levelsAble to handle large volumes of mailingMust be people ** friendliness, patience, diplomacy, etc.Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information in a professional and respectful manner
