Director, Manufacturing - High Jewelry

Job Summary:The Director of Harry Winston, High Jewelry workshop, will oversee all handmade, high value jewelry items from conception to finished good. The Director is responsible for the leadership, management and development of workshop craftsman and administrative staff. The workshop director also plays a key role in ensuring the success of the workshop, while maintaining the utmost quality of luxury jewelry.Functions **of all projects, ensuring deadlines are met and jewelry is executed per design specifications and quality assurance guidelinesthe planning and development of all models and finished goodsdesigns and establish SOP's to produce productsdesign issues and provide solutionsestimates on new projectsand adjust workflow as neededand provide suggestions for process improvementskey performance indicators and set appropriate targetsanalyze workshop performance data to identify areas of improvementsreports of production output findingson-boarding training to new hiresand promote technology enhancements for best manufacturing practicesday-to-day operations including but not limited to procedures and maintenance of vault operations, service of oxygen tank, gas boosters, laser welders, washout rooms, machinery, rolling mills, laser engravers, and 3D printersand approve ordering of raw materialsJob *Internal:Work with Manufacturing team including- production manager, foreman, craftsman, CAD team; Product Development; Gemstone Acquisition; Quality Assurance and other departments as neededExternal:Work with casters, refiners, finding houses, and other supporting vendorsJob ****Former management experience a mustStrong leadership, interpersonal and communication skillsHands on and pragmatic decision-makerStrong project management skillsMinimum 15 years jewelry manufacturing experience Must know how to use a microscopeMust have knowledge of laser welder and engraverFormal bench training; including Platinum and 18kt goldCAD and model making experienceAbility and expertise to handle unique and high value stonesIndustry experience including Quality Assurance; Diamond and Gemstone gradingProficient computer skills Working knowledge of Rhino or similar CAD softwareExcellent written and verbal communication skills
