Amsted Rail is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Payroll Analyst to join our dynamic team at one of our following locations in Granite City, IL, Overland Park, Kansas, Keokuk, Iowa, Columbus, Ohio, Hammond, Indiana, Petersburg, Virginia, Greenville, South Carolina, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Chicago, IL, Anmoore, West Virginia or Prince Edward Island, Canada.The Payroll Administrator Analyst will possess strong technical and communication skills, effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to systems and payroll processing. Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the payroll cycle, including tax, benefits, wage attachments, etc. are processed, reconciled, audited and transmitted accurately and timely.Duties/Responsibilities:-Process multi-state, multi union weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payrolls for over 2000 employees in both the United States and Canada Interprets pay policies, (e.g., vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, union contracts, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) and ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied to the various accounts correctly.Incentive processing for US & Canadian employees associated with respective payrolls.Ability to interpret and understand wage attachments from various agencies.Ability to identify and understand payroll taxes and issues that arise. Answers questions and acts as decision maker for internal customers on day to day-Coordination with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) team for testing, new reporting, reporting enhancements, and troubleshooting issues as they relate to the processing of payroll. -Create custom reports via UKG Business Intelligence, and analyze large amounts of information to support mandatory reporting, day to day and ad hoc business needsUtilizes analytical and problem-solving skills to research issues, perform root cause analysis, and make recommendations for changes-Maintain appropriate documentation to substantiate data entry requestsAssists with gathering data for internal and external auditing of payroll policies and proceduresImplement and document procedures for continual automation of payroll processesCreate and maintain process and training documentation -Handles monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and corrects issues as needed ensuring compliance with Finance and Audit-Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills and can prioritize work, with an emphasis on the accuracy and attention to detail coupled with ability to meet weekly deadlinesAbility to multi-task and work under various conditions that may include frequent interruptionsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential informationMust be capable of working and performing independent of direct supervision Working knowledge of account reconciliations and general ledger processesInstills trust with others through personal communication style, approachability, professionalism, accuracy and follow-through on commitments and deadlinesStay current on state and federal payroll and tax laws for US and CanadaExceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong sense of employee customer service and uses positive reinforcement in conflict resolution or employee concernsHigh degree of organizational skills with an eye toward improving processes and methods of work, leveraging automation and technology to simplify and drive consistencyExcellent mathematical/analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data and make decisions /recommendations to management around those findingsEducation and Experience:Associates Degree in Finance /HR or 3+ years comparable experience preferredExperience using Ultimate Software and/or Kronos timekeeping, or an similar HR system CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) preferredKnowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite Amsted Rail's commitment to Affirmative Action:Amsted Rail is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
