Through this commitment to excellence, we redefine the customer experience, enabling us to push the margins of what is possible.Summary The Engineering and Operations Manager (EOM) is the internal face of the TransMachine MTT organization to the front-line workers and the external face of TransMachine MTT to our customers for engineering challenges. He or she drives and unit output for the entire TransMachine MTT organization based on a combination knowledge of transmission technical specifications and effective utilization of TransMachine MTT employee and machine capabilities. The EOM utilizes lean manufacturing systems, Six Sigma, and ISO (International Standards Organization) standard engineering practices to drive timely unit output. The role leads a dynamic mix of unskilled, semi-skilled, and highly skilled front line team members. The EOM must manage these team members effectively to achieve TransMachine MTT's strategic unit output objectives. Finally, the EOM is on the "tip of the spear" for new product development, customer technical questions, and internal production troubleshooting. This role will combine a detailed mindset with the appropriate strategic orientation to accomplish each day's new challenge. The EOM must have a natural curiosity to drive the outsized and exponential growth of the organization within the next five-year period.The EOM is owner, promoter, and arbiter of the TransMachine MTT mission to drive transformational customer experiences in the mobility space by enabling uptime via replacement and rebuilt products.Responsibilities Manage a team of 10+ front line workers consisting of different skill sets ranging from unskilled to highly skilled. These functions include washing and sandblasting, welding, manual machining, vertical CNC (computer numerical control) milling and horizontal turning, and gear hobbing/shaping.Maintain and enforce industry level OHSA safety standards.Oversee incoming inspection and final quality assurance departments.Perform customer engineering tasks including troubleshooting and new product development.Drive rebuilt and replacement product output daily via front-line worker scheduling. Manage customer order prioritization and new product manufacturing in a constantly changing and evolving manufacturing environment.Trouble shoot CNC and manual machining issues with front-line workers.Maintain stock of CNC and manual machine inserts and cutting tools required to execute rebuild product manufacturing.Skills and ExperienceBachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred5+ years of engineering or plant operations experienceExcellent communication and analytical skills requiredKnowledge of Caterpillar, Allison, Dana, ZF, or Eaton transmission applicationsLean Systems, ISO manufacturing, and Six Sigma experience preferredExperience with CNC machines and manual lathes/drill pressesProficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, PowerPoint and WordStrong relationship and organizational skillsAbility to manage daily employee relationships for 10+ team membersMetricsSafety. The target is zero reportable incidents.Customer satisfaction. A function of high quality plus on time delivery, i.e. plant productivity.Quality. The target is zero customer complaints and rework. Plant productivity. The target is a defined weekly dollar and total unit output for both rebuild and replacement products.
