Support the development and automation of Advanced Planning tools and applications. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled and motivated, have a strong technical background in power systems and distribution planning, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation. This position will coordinate with other departments during the tools development and automation.ResponsibilitiesLead and collaborate with various teams within Avangrid and globally as well as perform research related to innovative tools and emerging technologies to assess the relevance and benefit to the Companys grid modernization and clean energy objectives. Lead and coordinate the review and evaluation of new tools and solution alternatives through research and benchmarking. Acts as a technical leader and subject matter expert in the team to direct, oversee and mentor other Engineers in the Department as well as across the Company. Proactively identify and perform special projects & studies that innovatively solve unique & complex problems with a broad impact to the business. Works with other subject matter experts and developers to Develop new tools from concept to implementation that enhance existing processes or solves challenges for the Company. Identify and implement best practices and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of the Planning process Provide technical assistance and consulting to other departments as necessary. Work with vendors, contractors and consultants to develop and automate tools and applications Assists in software product design, providing feedback to developers, performing testing of new features, and providing support to end users. Responsible presenting to Upper Management, Executives and Regulatory Commissions. Represents Avangrid Networks on technical committees and provides technical input and testimony for regulatory proceedings.Skills and RequirementsEducation & Experience Required:BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent10+ years of relevant experienceSkills/Abilities:Required Technical skills:Power systems engineeringKnowledge of the distribution planning processExperience with distribution power flow software and grid model managementExperience with Grid Modernization and Clean Energy concepts including: Beneficial Electrification, DER & Load Forecasting, Distribution Automation, Non-Wires Alternatives, Hosting Capacity, Volt-VAR OptimizationCapacity planning during normal and contingency system configurations, DER distribution system interconnections, reliability and resiliency conceptsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.Desired Technical skills:Python ScriptingSQLCyme power flow analysisJIRA project management.Experience with Agile software development, Scrum methodologyMasters Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE)CompetenciesDevelop Self & OthersEmpower to growCollaborate and ShareBe a role modelFocus to achieve resultsBe agileAvangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties.
