POSITION - Union: Chief Line Mechanic (NYSEG- NY - Deposit) (R-11232)NUMBER OF POSITIONS - 1LOCATION - NYSEG- NY - Deposit HOURLY RATE - $64.36ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision, regularly supervises the work of a line crew consisting of not more than 4 other men on all types of construction and maintenance and on energized or de-energized transmission and distribution conductors, structures and equipment. (See Memorandum governing bonus pay for Chief Lineman and Lineman 1/C assigned additional supervisory responsibility dated 9/29/68.)May be required to: (1) make voltage and current tests on low voltage circuits; (2) connect or disconnect electric and/or gas meters; (3) perform any incidental work necessary to serve electric and/or gas customers; (4) handle trouble calls; (5) do high voltage switching.Assists or relieves Line Foreman when required.Performs any of the duties of a 1/C Lineman and other related or less skilled work as directed.Skills and RequirementsShould have had at least two years experience as First-Class Lineman.Must be able to perform operations of considerable complexity and variety where standard methods of procedure are available. Equivalent to 4 years of high school; or 2 years of high school plus 2 years apprenticeship or trade school training.Must have a working knowledge of the layout and characteristics of the transmission and distribution lines in the area to which he is assigned and a working knowledge of electrical fundamentals as related to the construction, operation and maintenance of such lines.Must be thoroughly familiar with Companys Electrical and Mechanical Tagging Rules.Must be familiar with Companys Safety Rules, approved Methods of Resuscitation on or off the ground, and able to render practical First Aid.Must be able to qualify for required license for vehicles driven.QualificationsPhysical Qualifications:Normal health, physique and use of senses as indicated by passing the required physical examination given by a Company Physician, including color perception.Strength and endurance adequate for arduous labor in all kinds of outdoor weather conditions.Personal Qualifications:Must be willing to work irregular and/or extra hours as required.Must be willing to work under unusual or special working conditions and surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.Must be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.Must be capable of making and holding to decisions with fairness.Must be tactful in handling employee relations problems.Must be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of both superiors and subordinates.Must be capable of, and willing to assume supervisory responsibilities.CompetenciesBe a role modelBe agileCollaborate and ShareDevelop Self & OthersEmpower to growFocus to achieve resultsTechnical SkillsMobility InformationPlease note that any applicant who is not a citizen of the country of the vacancy will be subject to compliance with the applicable immigration requirements to legally work in that country.Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties.
