HERS Rater II

Are you concerned about climate change?  Do you want to be part of the solution by supporting the design and construction of highly resilient buildings?  Do you enjoy detail-oriented work and a mix of field and desk time?Airtight Energy Consulting, Inc. is a small but growing company that provides HERS ratings, Passive House consulting and verification, and green building assistance to developers, architects, contractors and others involved in the design and construction of multifamily buildings, single family homes, and commercial buildings.This position will focus on HERS ratings for small multifamily projects, renovations, and projects seeking ENERGY STAR certification.  The HERS Rater II position may also assist with green building certifications such as Enterprise Green Communities or Passive House.  Candidates must be certified HERS Raters with at least 1 year of modeling and inspection experience.  This position has tremendous growth potential; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of high performance, sustainable multifamily projects across the region and to become an expert on green building over the coming years through experience working on projects, support from knowledgeable co-workers, and participation in conferences and trainings.   **Reviewing architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting plans and specifications for compliance with ENERGY STAR, energy code, and green building program requirementsPerforming take-offs of envelope, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting systemsPerforming HERS ratings of single family and multifamily buildings, including renovation projectsProviding project management and consulting for projects from start to finishCertifying projects under ENERGY STAR Homes and ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction.Performing on-site inspections for single family homes and multifamily buildingsPerforming blower door, duct leakage, and ventilation testing using diagnostic equipmentBachelor of Science degree in science, engineering, architecture, building technology, or similarMinimum of 1 year experience as a HERS raterInterest in energy efficiency, green building, and reducing global climate changeLocated within 60 miles of Northampton, Massachusetts and willing to work in our office 1-3 days per weekHave completed ENERGY STAR rater training or ability to complete within the first few monthsUse of a personal vehicle for work and a good driving recordWe ***Health and dental insuranceRetirement plan with employer matchFriendly and knowledgeable coworkersHybrid work arrangement with a mix of office time, field time, and remote timeGreat office location in downtown NorthamptonProfessional development and career advancementOpportunity to participate in a bonus program
