The BC is responsible for the review of the resident application to assure eligibility for Medical Assistance or fraternal care benefits for eligible residents. Billing and collection responsibilities as assigned. Our Resident Billing Coordinator is responsible for the following: Knowledge of Medical Assistance regulations generally accepted accounting principles, regulations governing resident personal care accounts, and other governmental or industry regulations applicable to Masonic Villages operations, as appropriate. Demonstrating ability to communicate on issues affecting positions responsibilities. Communication may include identification and documentation of issue, gathering of information, and development of an action plan. Communication may include written reports or schedules, and oral presentations using Word and Excel. Demonstrating knowledge of business systems/software and controls for the resident service revenue activities of Masonic Villages. Demonstrated ability to utilize systems as needed to meet operational needs, regulatory requirements and maintain sufficient controls to ensure completeness and accuracy. Experience with the Resident Fund Management System (RFMS), PROMISE, and Matrixcare are a plus. Medical Assistance/Fraternal Care - assisting residents and families with Medical Assistance, SSI, PACE, and Fraternal care applications, including gathering documentation for new applicants, level of care changes, income changes, and discharges. Completing annual redeterminations as request by Department of Human Services. Billing/Cash receipts/Collections - preparing and sending monthly billing as assigned; depositing checks and recording cash receipts as appropriate; following collections procedure for delinquent accounts. Working with Commercial Insurance Coordinator(s) to be an available resource for staff, residents or families who have questions in insurance coverage. Monitoring residents insurance coverage, in conjunction with Commercial billing staff, to ensure residents carry appropriate insurance. Reviewing census changes on a daily basis and communicating with Commercial Billing staff and others as needed. Reviewing and processing resident mail as appropriate. Ensuring completion of ancillary entry/recurring charges, including interfaces and credits due to residents. Cross training to review and process daily census changes; communicating payor/census changes as appropriate. Participating in audits and projects as required or directed by Director of Resident Accounts. Resident Trust Fund duties including recording deposits and withdraws and sending statements as assigned Presenting a professional and customer friendly demeanor when dealing with residents and family members. Demonstrating a high level of confidentiality when handling residents/families information. What You Have: High school graduate or equivalent. Associate degree in accounting preferred or minimum of two years of accounting experience. 3 years of Long-term care billing and Department of Human Services experience preferred. Computer experience required. PC experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, OneDrive, Smartsheet or other spreadsheet software required. Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills. Effective communication skills able to communicate with residents, families, and staff at all levels.
