Akkodis is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer (Tip Sensor Instrumentation Engineer) at the Evendale, OH location. Ideally, we are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Design Engineer to support the Tip Sensor and Separable Instrumentation Engineering (TSSI) sub-section. The role involves designing and applying instrumentation for both commercial and military jet engine components, collaborating with teams to ensure the application meets quality, safety, and functional requirements. You will be responsible for shop modifications to engine hardware, routing of leads, and providing comprehensive support for instrumentation applications within the Test Measurement Operations (TMO) lab and Instrumentation Application Shop (IAS).Pay Rate: $38-48/hr Type: 17 months contractKey Responsibilities:Provide engineering direction, specifications, procedures, and drawings for the application of instrumentation to jet engine hardware to meet quality, safety, and functional objectives.Define sensor requirements to meet customer measurement needs on various engine components.Design and analyze instrumentation applications using engineering principles, ensuring adherence to business standards, procedures, and product/program requirements.Utilize UG and VisMockup software to develop functional designs for instrumentation applications.Coordinate engine mechanical rework and interface requirements for instrumentation.Establish and support engine hardware modifications to accommodate instrumentation and lead routing.Interface with the Test Measurement Operations (TMO) lab and Instrumentation Application Shop (IAS) to plan and execute instrumentation applications.Provide direction to instrumentation mechanics on the design, manufacture, and application of instrumentation projects.Participate in technical design and program reviews, offering leadership and direction as necessary.Document technical data generated from assigned projects in line with engineering policies and procedures.Validate and monitor the correct application of various sensor types on engine components and assemblies.Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments related to assigned projects.Collaborate with personnel from other departments to ensure project success.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.Proven experience in instrumentation design and application, preferably in jet engine components.Proficiency in UG (Unigraphics) and VisMockup software for instrumentation design.Strong understanding of engine mechanical systems and rework coordination.Ability to provide technical leadership and clear communication with cross-functional teams.Experience with sensor technologies, instrumentation workflows, and application standards.Familiarity with documentation standards, procedures, and engineering policies.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage complex tasks, and interface with multiple departments.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with jet engine development.Previous experience working with Instrumentation Workflow Systems (IWS).Knowledge of Operating Procedures and Instructions (OPIs) related to instrumentation design practices.If you are interested in further exploring this opportunity, click on Easy Apply.
