The Litigation Attorney II is responsible for all aspects of case management. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of medicine, law and issues related to medical malpractice litigation and the skill to develop effective case strategy. Our corporate culture and collegial collaboration of minds and efforts is unmatched.Essential Duties and **Work with trial and arbitration attorney and actively participate *Formulating discovery and investigation strategyObtaining concurrence with claims specialist on defense preparation and ensuring cost effective completionPreparing pleadingsPreparing and responding to discoveryAttending court appearancesPreparing lawsuits for trial/arbitrationPreparing motions as requestedRespond to "hotline" inquiries from the Claims DepartmentPrepare timely reports to claims at all stages of litigationComply with the Defense Attorney GuidelinesRepresent Member physicians at deposition in "Depo-only" casesPerform other duties as necessaryEducation and/or *J.D. DegreeMinimum 4 years medical malpractice litigation experienceTrial/Arbitration experienceOther Skills and **License to practice law in CaliforniaKnowledge of medical issuesAbility to assume support role for trial attorneys and to assist as second chair in trial and arbitrations.
