Job DescriptionThe purpose of the Permit Technician is to perform technical and administrative work involving building permit applications and plans. This is accomplished by receiving, processing, reviewing, and issuing permits; and providing customer service. Other duties include completing routine clerical tasks and support activities. This individual role embraces the SilMan culture and supports the enforcement of SilMan's policies, procedures, and vision in a confidential and professional manner.**• Research and Analysis related to local building codes, regulations, and specific permit requirements for projects.• Completes building permit applications by receiving, reviewing, processing, and issuing permit documentation.• Completes routine support tasks primarily involving clerical activities by responding to requests for information, maintaining calendars, typing, entering, and recording data and correspondence, answering routine inquiries, filing, and scanning documents.• Coordinates meetings and projects as assigned by researching and compiling information for projects or events and assisting with presentation materials, equipment, and supplies.• Develops and maintains cooperative and professional relationships with employees and all levels of management to include representatives from other departments and organizations.• Distributes and reviews building permit applications for permit issuance according to department procedures and legal requirements.• Reviews blueprints, submissions and plans for completeness and compliance with basic code requirements.• Will proactively communicate information to and from engineering, project management, and direct client contacts.• Will communicate with city agencies/municipalities across the US.• Provide a high level of customer service with a personalized approach and problem-solving mindset**• High School Diploma or GED equivalent• Minimum of 2 years of customer service and/or clerical experience, preferably in building construction related; or a minimum of 1 year of experience in Permit Technician with a private or public agency• Very detail oriented with strong decision-making skills• Experience in Construction Industry preferred• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
