Controller Location: Hattiesburg, MS About Us: PrideStaff is looking a a controller to joun outr client's team! Our client is a leading food product manufacturer committed to producing high-quality products. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join their team and oversee all financial aspects of our manufacturing facility. Job Summary: The Controller is a critical leadership role responsible for the financial management and reporting of our manufacturing facility. This position will oversee all accounting operations, including cost accounting, inventory control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The Controller will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and provide strategic financial guidance to support the facility's operational goals. Responsibilities: Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement. Provide detailed variance analysis and explanations for actual vs. budget/forecast results. Generate ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as needed. Cost Accounting and Inventory Control: Oversee the development and maintenance of accurate standard costs and cost accounting systems. Manage inventory control processes, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation. Analyze production costs, identify cost reduction opportunities, and implement cost control measures. Monitor and report on inventory valuation and obsolescence. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and develop accurate financial forecasts. Collaborate with department managers to develop realistic budgets and track performance against budget. Provide financial projections and scenario planning to support strategic decision-making. Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards and regulations. Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud. Manage audits (internal and external) and ensure timely and accurate responses to audit requests. Ensure proper SOX compliance if applicable. Team Leadership and Management: Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members. Strategic Financial Guidance: Provide financial insights and recommendations to the facility's leadership team. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes. Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and provide financial analysis. Work with other departments to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control, and financial reporting. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proven ability to lead and manage a team. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls. Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
