Our client, based in White Plains, NY, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled FMLA/Leave Specialist to oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support in navigating leave regulations, ensuring compliance, and maintaining clear communication between employees and management. Key Responsibilities: Administer leave requests and accommodations under FMLA, ADA, and other applicable federal, state, and local leave laws Communicate directly with employees about leave needs, documentation requirements, and work schedule modifications Manage the entire leave administration process from initial notice through return to work Gather and complete required paperwork, determine leave eligibility, and designate FMLA-qualifying leaves Request and manage medical certifications as needed Track and account for intermittent and reduced schedule leaves Maintain ongoing communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth return-to-work transitions Advise managers and employees on interactions between leave laws, paid time off, workers' compensation, and disability benefits Oversee return-to-work processes for extended leaves Draft and recommend revisions to company leave policies to ensure legal compliance Maintain confidential and accurate records of all leave and accommodation requests Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field Minimum two years of human resources experience Extensive knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and related legal protections Exceptional written and verbal communication skills SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus Bilingual (in English and Spanish) would be a huge plus! #INFEB2025
