Overview of the Senior Accountant Role: Manage general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ensure adherence to GAAP, GASB, and government regulations, staying updated on relevant accounting standards. Lead audit preparation, collaborating with internal and external auditors to support successful financial reviews. Oversee fund accounting, grant tracking, and government financial reporting, ensuring proper allocation of resources. Support month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements and budget reports. Implement internal controls and process improvements, enhancing financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Accountant: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CGFM, or CIA preferred). 5+ years of experience in general accounting, audit, and government accounting. Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, Uniform Guidance, and government compliance. Experience with fund accounting, grants management, and financial reporting in a government setting. Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysis). Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
