We're looking for motivated individuals interested in joining our team of highly experienced engineers, scientists and planners that work to improve water quality and the health of our surface waters in the Bay Area, Northern California and throughout the State.About the PositionWe're excited to announce a job opportunity for a Senior Environmental Scientist or Engineer who will work out of our Oakland office (or hybrid remote and office) on projects that focus on water quality monitoring/assessment, pollutant source identification and control, data/information management and analytics, and water quality modeling. The successful candidate will help our public agency clients improve the quality of surface waters, the quality of life of Bay Area residents through the identification of current or potential impacts of stormwater (urban runoff), and by assisting with the identification and implementation of controls that address hydrologic and pollutant impacts to these natural resources. The Senior Scientist/Engineer will work under the direction of industry-leading scientists and engineers, most with advanced degrees and over 20 years of experience.ResponsibilitiesThis position may include conducting tasks and projects in the field and in the office. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:• Leading and/or conducting pollutant source investigations to identify the magnitude and extent of legacy pollutants (e.g., mercury and PCBs) from land areas that contribute to urban stormwater.• Evaluating the effectiveness of stormwater management controls via studies that entail both field monitoring/assessment and data analyses and modeling techniques.• Analyzing environmental monitoring and assessment data to draw conclusions and form recommendations that will protect and improve the quality of surface waters.• Conducting data/information management related to our cloud-based databases and developing reporting metrics and data analytics to demonstrate changes in water quality.• Writing technical reports and memorandums and developing and presenting materials to clients, regulators, the general public, and at professional conferences.• Developing and presenting information to local agencies, regulatory agencies, and/or community members on analyses, plans and specific projects (e.g., public workshops/hearings, regulatory agency meetings, city council meetings).• Other stormwater management and monitoring related tasks.The position will be based out of our Oakland office, a converted turn-of-the-century mansion, which is just a few blocks from downtown Oakland BART. Options for hybrid (work-from-home and office) work arrangements are available.Required Qualifications• A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.• Significant experience in leading or conducting field work to collect and process environmental samples and/or leading or conducting pollutant source investigations.• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Power Point, and Excel• Experience with technical writing and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.• Experience in successfully developing and giving presentations at meetings and conferences that communicate technical results and conclusions.• A valid California driver's license and auto insurance.• Willingness and ability to conduct field work, including traveling to and from monitoring/assessment sites and carrying at least 50 lbs.• Good verbal communication and writing skills.Desired Qualifications• A Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.• Experience in using Geographic Information System (GIS) software and with cartography, specifically ArcGIS or QGIS.• Experience in conducting water quality and/or hydrologic modeling.• Experience in implementing environmental data quality assurance/control procedures and maintaining information management systems.• Experience in using or developing relational and/or cloud-based databases.• Coding/programming experience (e.g., R-studio, JavaScript, SQL).Classifications & Base Salary/Compensation• Applicable Classifications - Senior Scientist/Engineer I, II or III• Base Salary Range - $100,000 to $140,000 per yearHow to ApplyTo apply to this position, please submit a resume and cover letter by e-mail to:EOA, Inc.1410 Jackson StreetOakland, CA 94612careers@About EOAEOA is a multi-disciplinary environmental consulting firm that specializes in water quality stewardship.
