Project Recruit has partnered with a boutique law firm seeking to add a General Counsel to join the firm. This is an excellent opportunity to gain extensive experience in litigation in state and federal court and before administrative agencies, as well as training from several experienced litigators.RESPONSIBILITIES:Defend School Districts in cases brought under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and New York State Human Rights Law, including claims of discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, and retaliation.Represent clients before the EEOC and New York State Division of Human Rights in administrative proceedings.Defend negligence cases involving catastrophic injury, premises liability, breach of contract, defamation, construction accidents, and automobile/trucking liability.Conduct legal research and draft motions, including motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions.Prepare written reports analyzing case strategy and legal arguments.Participate in discovery, depositions, and hearings as part of case preparation.QUALIFICATIONS:J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar.1-5 years of commercial litigation experience, and preferred experience in defending school districts and handling education matters.Experience with employment law or education law is a plus.Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.Ability to handle multiple cases and work both independently and collaboratively.
