We are looking for a part or full-time Assistant Manager to join our effort and belief in supporting artisan creativity and the importance of shopping locally. We are a small and dedicated team, success in this role requires an Assistant Manager with strong communication skills who thrives off collaboration. This Assistant Manager is the Inventory Lead and will be responsible for controlling inventory within a retail setting. This individual will work alongside a small team to ensure smooth daily operations by maintaining inventory systems and providing exceptional customer service. Manage Inventory This position has the lead responsibility for creating stock entries, maintaining, and reporting on inventory to support sales and ordering. Accuracy and attention to detail is extremely important.Usevarious software programs (Lightspeed, Excel, Shopify) to closely follow inventory procedures and gather needed information to inform restock and purchasing processesEnter new products into the systemClosely follow protocols of item descriptions, vendor details and product specifications in system to ensure consistency Review and update existing product information as neededCreate Purchase Orders (PO) for incoming orders in the Point of Sale systemWhen orders arrive, receive, unbox and inspect incoming itemsReview packing invoices to ensure incoming items match POTag items, arrange on display shelvesOrganize extra merchandise in back stock storage, create systems so product can be easily identified and retrieved for restockWork with other store managers to update and ensure accurate pricing both in store and onlineConduct physical inventory quarterlyCommunicate with artists and vendors when product is damaged or there are issues with ordersCreate ReportsGather various types of data to regularly create reports related to sales, inventory and other metrics to assist manager with ordering and store operationGeneral Sales Duties The following tasks are intended as a general description and are not intended in any way to limit other duties which may be assigned.Provide exemplary customer service in store, including but not limited to:Welcome customers, both in person and on the phone. We carry high end items and are known for providing exceptional customer serviceAnswer questions and offer suggestions. Customers come to us for ideas, inspiration, and assistance making selectionsComplete sales using a computer point-of-sale systemWrap fragile and delicate items for shipping and carryout from storeAssist Web Manager and customers with placing online orders as neededSupport manager with sales of area rugs as neededAssist team with maintaining store appearance Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the shop, front and back of houseBreak down boxes and clear packing materialsVisual merchandising and restockingAdditional Tasks This Assistant Manager will be expected to open and close the store as needed after a preliminary training period.Required Qualifications2+ years of retail, foodservice or customer service experienceExperience with Excel and retail point of sale systemsExperience creating, analyzing and maintaining reportsHighly detail oriented and extremely organized. You will be responsible for overseeing store inventory and receiving products. Strong ability to multitask in a busy environmentFlexibility, this can be a very fast paced environment and at times you will need to pivot what you are doing throughout the dayAbility to work well independently but also comfortable taking directionExtraordinary communication skillsThis position requires heavy lifting (30lbs) and the ability to go up and down stairs while carrying heavy loads several times a dayEnergetic and used to being on your feetHave the ability to handle area rugs up to 80lbs with a partnerDesired QualificationsProven experience controlling inventory within a retail settingExperience creating and maintaining inventory proceduresExperience in a management roleFamiliarity and experience working with inventory management and control softwareAdditional Information This is an hourly, at-will paid position at $16.00-$20.00 per hour based on skills and experience. The store is open Tuesday - Saturday. This position is available as a part time (32 hours/week) or full time (40 hours/week) opportunity. Saturdays are mandatory. Additional benefits: 7 days of paid sick time per calendar year. 5 days of paid vacation per calendar year after 90 days. This time does not rollover and is renewed each calendar year.
