Vice President of Construction, Commercial Real Estate Private Equity / Private CreditNew York, NYPosition Overview:The Vice President of Construction will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of construction-related activities for our private credit real estate lending company. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in construction management, real estate development, and financial analysis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in our company's growth and success in the real estate lending market. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of construction expertise, financial acumen, and strong leadership skills to help drive our construction lending portfolio forward.Key Responsibilities:Construction Oversight Manage and lead the entirety of the construction process, including financing, closing, construction administration, and placement into service. Monitor construction progress of funded projects to ensure quality construction and compliance with plans, specifications, and budgets. Coordinate with borrowers, contractors, and third-party consultants to track and report on construction progress.Financial Management Review and analyze construction budgets, cash flow projections, and financial feasibility of projects. Approve construction funding requests and manage the draw process. Prepare and present quarterly construction status reports, recommending risk rating changes when necessary.Risk Management Identify potential risks in construction projects and develop proactive solutions to resolve issues. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards in construction loan documentation. Coordinate with legal counsel on the preparation and negotiation of construction-related agreements. Team Leadership Manage, train, and mentor subordinate staff in the construction and project management team. Drive process improvements and implement best practices within the team. Relationship Management Act as the primary point of contact for all parties involved in construction transactions, including borrowers, contractors, governmental partners, and internal stakeholders. Develop and maintain relationships with the brokerage community to source potential lending opportunities. Strategic Planning Contribute to the development and modification of company macro investment strategies related to construction lending. Stay current on developments and trends in the construction industry and real estate market.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; MBA or Master's in Real Estate preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in multi-family or mixed-use residential and commercial real estate transactions, with a focus on construction management. Extensive knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and industry standards. Strong understanding of real estate finance, including experience with LIHTC, tax-exempt bonds, and other capital sources for real estate development. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to create and manipulate pro forma financial models. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
