The Private Flood Brokerage Manager position requires a strong problem solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skill set with an emphasis on customer service. The Private Flood Brokerage Manager candidate must possess the ability to both act as a Broker/Underwriter, and manage the department staff, processes, quality and accuracy. This position requires an understanding of current underwriting appetites within the private market, the ability to adapt to ever changing underwriting market conditions, while cultivating key carrier and partner relationships. The Private Flood Brokerage Manager, working with direct reports in the Brokerage department should maintain our existing portfolio of flood business, and grow the program through new business initiatives, all while remaining within the quality standards set by the company and its partners. The Private Flood Brokerage Manager must be able to analyze and assess risks, provide agent/insured with tailor made solutions by acting as a broker in the surplus market, and calculate the required premium according to the underwriting rules and guidelines of each of the company's surplus carrier partners. This position must also have a strong knowledge and the ability to apply industry recognized quality standards, processing best practices and processing improvement to allow for profitable and high quality growth and departmental improvement. Accountabilities/Job Duties:Staff, motivate and manage, both directly and indirectly, the Private Flood Brokerage team including (but not limited to): evaluating and forecasting staffing needs, writing and maintaining job descriptions, posting for open positions, recruiting and interviewing prospective team members, mentoring and guiding the Brokerage team by discussing goals while suggesting and providing methods to reach goals, performing annual reviews with feedback from Private Flood direct reports, and promoting and disciplining teammates when warranted.Maintains a working level knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures of the company's admitted and surplus carrier partners to affectively broker policies by determining eligibility and the most competitive pricing based on the requested types and amounts of coverage.Answers questions or resolves problems of agents, insureds, Regional Sales Managers and company management. Apply rules and rates to all rating situations involving new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations of the company's admitted and non-admitted business lines/products.Determine if a property qualifies for Company product lines, and prepare quotes for agents within company established time frames.Issue new and renewal policies within company established quality and time frames. Required to monitor Lloyds aggregates by individual slip number and report monthly to THB.Required to establish and maintain strong working relationships with admitted reinsurers. Requirements:Must have a working knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures of underwriting within the U.S. Property & Casualty insurance industry. 220 License required and a 120 License preferred.Must be proficient in all Senior Flood Underwriter skillsets. Must possess a working knowledge and/or the ability to research and determine the rules and regulations of each state's surplus lines association.The team member must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative and ability to resolve difficult business or interpersonal issues when needed. The team member should have a strong ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization. Demonstrate a comfort level in a fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities. Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills with emphasis on product and technical knowledge required.
