Maintenance Supervisor (3rd Shift) Summary:The maintenance supervisor is responsible for uptime and production throughput by implementing proven maintenance and reliability improvement processes along with assisting and working on complex issues that may arise with equipment on the production floor. The maintenance supervisor is responsible for assigning and directing work within assigned areas to ensure that the plant is maintained at the highest levels of efficiency in order to produce and ship product to our customers, on time and within budget. This individual will provide the overall leadership and direction for the maintenance team on an assigned shift including staff training and development, parts supply, preventative/predictive maintenance systems, downtime tracking, and safety and quality.The Maintenance Supervisor will work in conjunction with other Berner managers and supervisors to enhance the overall quality, safety, and reliability of the assets while maintaining regulatory compliance through the use of appropriate maintenance programs and driving a positive customer service experience for their peers.This position may require working different hours including weekends as needed to meet business, customer, schedule, or personnel or product requirements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Supports production operations by accomplishing the production needs within safety, quality, budgetary and regulatory guidelines by ensuring timely and efficient maintenance of all operations equipment and assets.Plans and implements operational and mechanical improvements.Assesses, analyzes, troubleshoots, and determines solutions to mechanical problems, to support the productivity of Maintenance Technicians.Contributes to the planning and evaluation of production changes. Provides direction for the installation and modification of equipment.Understands and works with established standards to deliver the highest and most consistent levels of excellent customer service.Assist in the creation of standard operating procedures for the maintenance department in collaboration with the maintenance manager and director of maintenance.Monitors and enforces all OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies. Provides leadership to the safety program for the Maintenance Department.Provides instruction and technical training to Maintenance Technicians, Machinists, mechanics, and operators on equipment, procedures, and improving skill levels.Works in an environment that incorporates all operations departments to share knowledge and objectives that have been set forth.Oversees maintenance process and/or staff along with ensuring technicians are properly deployed on the production floor.Performs the same work duties as those whom they supervise. May perform or assist with more difficult skilled tasks depending on situations/issues that may arise.Collaborates with production staff and upper management to resolve maintenance issues.Prepares and maintains employee records if applicable.May serve as a direct report for maintenance staff.Direct supervision of technical/maintenance staff, providing day-to-day technical leadership and support, as well as managing PM programs, projects, staff development, and administrative tasks such as daily crewing, job assignments, vacations, performance evaluations, etc.Monitors preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules to meet scheduled due dates.Interfaces with all Departmental Managers and Supervisors to ensure that plant equipment is maintained and kept in functional and safe order.Works with production personnel to help improve production efficiencies by suggesting machine improvements and maintenance procedures for those machines.Ensures that all plant and facility equipment and maintenance work order software is maintained in a normal, safe, and running condition.Interfaces with outside contractors when contracted work is scheduled during assigned shifts and with outside vendors for purchased parts.Maintains documentary evidence of key events in installation and maintenance activity and provides technical advice in problem-solving.Communicates company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.Job QualificationsAt least 5 years experience in a Maintenance role preferably in a food manufacturing setting.At least 5 years of experience leading teams of people in the maintenance fieldPrevious experience establishing maintenance-related policies, and proceduresKnowledge of quality systems and regulationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with multiple departments and customers to resolve issues.High-level attention to detailDemonstrated ability to think critically and provide strategic insight and analysis to solve problemsFamiliarity with Microsoft Office applications, ERP software systems, and statistical softwareWorking Conditions:• Indoors• Walking on wet and slippery floors• Standing/Walking for 12 Hours• 12 hour night shifts (2-2-every other weekend Schedule)
