Pixel Acuity, a division of Digital Transitions, provides photo imaging services to clients in the heritage space, including museums, libraries, public archives, and corporate archives.Job DescriptionPixel Acuity is seeking a short-term (3-4 month) Digital Imaging Technician at the Los Angeles: Culver City location. This role will be primarily responsible for imaging nitrate film as part of a medium-scale digitization project. In this position, you will have the chance to learn about historical photographic processes, archival materials handling, and cutting edge instant-capture digitization techniques. The scope of work requires close attention to detail and following imaging instructions for the project. Additional training on technical and specific tasks for this position will be provided on-site. Students who are pursuing cultural heritage careers and are looking for experience in a real-world cultural collections environment are encouraged to apply.Qualifications and ExperienceWork experience in photography, digitization, or related fieldExperience with heritage materials including, but not limited to, photographic prints and positive/negative filmExperience with photography/image software suites (Capture One, Adobe Lightroom, etc.)Knowledge of current heritage imaging and technologies, standards, and best practices (FADGI, ISO19264)Experience with transmissive digitization workflows and post-processing (preferred)Project/ServicePerform Imaging procedures (Capture and QC-1 tasks) with less than 5% error rate (throughput of around 100 captures per hour)Capture: use Phase One digital copy camera systems to image heritage materials and utilize target validation tools to ensure archival and preservation-grade digital imagesQuality Control: fulfill tasks outlined in project specificationsOrganize files on MacOS computers and update progress tracking and production reports dailyCommunicate and provide weekly schedule to Project ManagerRate:Independent Contractor positionHourly pay: $25Work based on Project/Service estimated 20 hours per weekAvailable work hours are between 9:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to FridayPhysical Requirements:Able to lift 40 poundsAble to work in front of a computer for around 6 hours per dayAble to walk up and down one flight of stairs multiple times per day
