ABOUT THE ROLE:We are seeking a Sustainable Procurement Specialist to develop and maintain a sustainable purchasing strategy that ensures cost efficiency, risk mitigation, and supply reliability. This role involves supplier evaluation, raw material management, and sustainability initiatives to enhance procurement processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in the polymer industry and a strong understanding of sustainable purchasing practices.EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOU WILL DO:Develop and execute a sustainable procurement strategy to optimize costs and mitigate risks.Manage approval decisions for off-spec raw materials and oversee raw material complaints with suppliers.Create and maintain raw material specifications and test plans.Lead projects for sampling, evaluation, and qualification of sustainable and alternative raw materials or suppliers.Ensure all purchasing projects are up to date and aligned with company sustainability goals.Maintain a sustainable supplier evaluation program, including self-assessments and development plans.Provide suppliers with updated forecasts and communicate any changes or trends.Lead monthly raw material inventory review meetings.Manage raw material collectors for the local site.Support EcoVadis documentation and sustainability-related data requests.Develop and maintain departmental procedures, including SOP updates and required training.Oversee master data creation and maintenance.QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.1-3 years of experience in the polymer industry, preferably in an engineering or purchasing role within the TPE compounding industry.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written).Effective negotiation skills with suppliers.Knowledge of sustainability practices in procurement.Understanding of raw materials, feedstocks, and TPE products.Experience with SAP modules (EHS, QM, MM, etc.), a plus but not requiredFamiliarity with test plans, test procedures, and product costing.Proficiency in inventory management and raw material claims resolution.Strong project management skills for procurement and sustainability initiatives.If you're passionate about sustainable procurement and driving eco-friendly supply chain initiatives, we'd love to hear from you!
