This is an ONSITE position located in Indiana7-10k Sign on BonusRelocation Compensation/Tuition AssistanceNEW GRADS WELCOME!!Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)Location: Elkhart General Hospital / Memorial Hospital, South Bend, INShift: Day Shift, Rotating Holidays and WeekendsReports To: Physical Therapist (PT)Job Summary: The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to help patients recover from injuries, surgeries, and other conditions affecting their physical function. This role includes assisting in the implementation of physical therapy plans, facilitating rehabilitation, and helping patients achieve their physical health goals in a hospital setting.Key Responsibilities:Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed by Physical Therapists (PTs) to improve patients' mobility, strength, and overall function.Provide hands-on therapy and exercises to patients in accordance with the plan of care, ensuring safe and effective treatment.Monitor patient progress, document treatment interventions, and report significant changes in patient status to the supervising PT.Educate patients and their families on rehabilitation exercises, safety measures, and strategies for improving or maintaining mobility at home.Assist with the setup and operation of physical therapy equipment and ensure patient comfort and safety during sessions.Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care for patients.Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.Follow infection control procedures and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.Stay current with physical therapy techniques, best practices, and professional development.Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state of Indiana.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred but not required.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Physical Demands:Ability to lift, move, and support patients as required by the treatment plan.Ability to perform physical activities that may require standing, bending, kneeling, or lifting for extended periods of time.Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are required for operating therapy equipment.Work Environment:Fast-paced hospital setting, working directly with patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings as required.Some evening and weekend hours may be required depending on patient needs.
