CONTROLS ENGINEER - 2ND SHIFT (3:00pm-12:00am)GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXASAs a member of the Engineering team, the Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing program changes to reduce machine downtime and improve system efficiency. The Controls Engineer will be challenged to maintain multiple machinery systems in a JIT / complex assembly plant environment. In this role, you support department and plant goals as established, participate in continuous improvement activities and the high performing work team model.The Role:Your work will include, but not be limited to:Designing, developing, and troubleshooting all aspects of factory based electrical control systems, equipment, and machineryFamiliar with and knowledge of installation, programming, and providing technical support of PLC based hardware and software, such as Allen Bradley systemsPerformance of testing and maintaining various electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing and power transmission systemsAbility to identify network communication issues reactively and proactively troubleshoot electrical based problems on conveyor systems, motors, drives, pumps, etc.Use of computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignmentsEvaluation of existing components and/or systems to ensure ongoing reliability and support of integrated turn-key equipment and machineryDevelop, modify, or write operator interfaces and other platformsFamiliar with, knowledge, and understanding of OSHA electrical safety rule and regulation such as NFPA-70E, LOTO, and Safe Cell EntryWilling and able to supervise, guide, and direct plant maintenance technicians as requiredInterpret production requirements, identify, and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budgetAnalyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design, including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controlsOversee project workflow, support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budgetDevelop electrical and software design of customized solutions, including manufacturing automation and safety systems, while ensuring project scope is maintained without project scope creepSupport manufactured, build, and validation of manufacturing automation and safety systems, which include pneumatics, servos, vfd's, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons, robotic integration, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawingsCritical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently, and in team-based environmentsProactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment, as well as ability to balance multiple projectsYour Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related fieldMinimum of 2-3 years of Electrical Controls/System Engineering industry experienceStrong skills in ladder logic, preferably Allen-Bradley Systems; PLC5, SLC and ControlLogix 5000-5580.Strong Skills in HMI Design, Preferably FactoryTalk View and Ignition; Wonderware. LabVIEWFamiliarity with Ethernet/IP and basic networking applications and practicesWorking knowledge and understanding of plant power distribution equipment and controlsExperience and working knowledge of robot teach points and programming code understandingBonus If You Have:The ability to supervise plant maintenance personnel during vacation and absence periods of Maintenance Engineer.Superb interpersonal skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills, decision making skills, communication skills (both written and oral), ability to manage multiple priorities, and self-motivation
