If this sounds like a place for you, we would love to meet you!Role Overview:This role is responsible for administering all employee payroll and benefits for the company and its employees, including payments, timekeeping, leave administration, wage garnishments, health, vision, dental, FSA/HSA, transportation benefits, life insurance, disability, 401K, and other benefits. Countries of primary support are US, and Mexico, with secondary support for Canada and Australia. What You Will Do:Payroll ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and maintaining systems to process payroll transactions (e.g., salary, benefits, deductions, taxes, garnishments, reimbursements, and third-party payments)Administering and overseeing timekeeping and payroll systemsImplementing payroll changes (e.g., onboardings, offboarding, raises, LOAs, garnishments, benefits elections)Recordkeeping for payroll, tax, unemployment, garnishment, and other matters Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policiesLiaise with auditors and manage interdisciplinary audits (401K, payroll, workers' compensation, SOC1/2, and others) Collaborate closely with colleagues within the People Team and Finance Team to enable transparency and alignment on payroll and finance matters across teamsMaintain accurate records and prepare regular and ad hoc reportsAnswer payroll-related questions, resolve issues, make corrections, and assist employees and other stakeholders (auditors, vendors, tax authorities, etc.) as neededBenefits ResponsibilitiesEnsuring processes are established for all transfers of data between the HRIS and benefits providersPartnering with the CPO on US and Canada benefits design and negotiation; Evaluating and comparing pricing and offerings across potential benefits options to help identify potential innovations or improvements in benefits offerings based on the needs of the business and its employeesPlanning and management of company-wide benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability programs, 401K, FSA, HSA, COBRA, transportation, wellness benefits, RRSP (Canada), and othersManaging and helping lead Open Enrollment in partnership with other People Team membersServing as primary point of contact for benefits broker and benefits-related vendorsMonitoring, reviewing, and approving benefits-related invoices and coordinating between vendors and FinanceBecoming knowledgeable about all benefits programs to answer employee questions and resolve issuesAdministering and tracking all LOAs across the company and serving as the internal point of contact and resource for employees taking an LOATracking and reporting on utilization of optional benefits coverages, elections, premiums, and other data to help the company make informed benefits-related decisionsGeneral ResponsibilitiesServing as the primary liaison for the People Team with the Finance Team for payroll and benefitsPreparing regular and ad hoc reporting relating to payroll and benefits Documenting payroll and benefits processes, conducting training, and coordinating backup coverageCollaborating with Legal/Compliance Team members on contractual, legal, compliance, or other relevant areasSupporting People Team initiatives, projects, and tasks as needed, taking direction from the North America People Experience Director and Chief People OfficerCommunicating payroll and benefits information to employees and other stakeholders What You Will Bring:Bachelor's degree required, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred, other HR certifications are a plusMinimum of 3-5 years of experience as a payroll and benefits manager or in similar rolesExcellent knowledge of multi-jurisdictional payroll, tax-related, unemployment procedures and laws, and required employer payments to countriesExperience managing company-wide benefits programs and administering related payroll procedures for North America Knowledgeable about legal and compliance obligations relating to leaves of absences (LOAs), wage garnishments, COBRA, withholding, federal and state reporting, and other applicable laws/regulationsConfident generating payroll and benefits-related reporting, analyzing data, and responding to related questionsExperience working with EORs and through M&A processesExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet deadlinesStrong communication, math, analytical, administrative, client service, and problem-solving skillsExperience completing government reports, supporting audits, and generating internal and external reportingDemonstrates integrity, professionalism, discretion, trustworthiness, and high ethical standardsProficient (or able to become proficient) with company applications and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, as well as HR-specific solutions, such as Rippling, Wolters Kluwer (tax and workforce registration) and Equifax unemployment.Why Ashling PartnersAt Ashling Partners, we strive to provide meaningful work in a positive, appreciative and fun culture for our own team.
