Financial Controller

Controller Laurel, MarylandOur client, a dynamic fast-paced construction and rental services company in Laurel, Maryland. We are looking for a dedicated Controller to oversee financial operations and support overall company growth. Working with the President and reporting to the CFO, the Controller will play a key role within a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment, driving process improvements, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities:Manage the accounting function, including the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.Supervise and mentor a team of support staffFoster a positive learning environmentPrepare, analyze, and present timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsDevelop and implement strong internal controls to protect assets and ensure compliance with regulationsOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and collections, resolving discrepancies and ensuring timely processingSupport the ERP migration from QuickBooks to Viewpoint Spectrum software, optimizing systems and processesAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to align operations with company goalsProvide financial insights that inform decisions and drive profitabilityQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA certification preferred.5-12 years accounting financial experience in construction accounting, equipment rental, or related services preferredExperience in a leadership role with a history of team developmentStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standardsProficiency in Microsoft ExcelFamiliarity with Viewpoint Spectrum a plusExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsAttention to detail and dedication to delivering accurate resultsStrong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across departmentsBenefits and Perks:Competitive salary with performance-based incentivesComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans401(k) retirement savings plan with company matchOpportunities for professional developmentCollaborative work environment with a hybrid schedule (4 days in the office, one day remotely)
