Manager, Electrical Engineering Responsibilities:· Responsible for reviewing and approving the power system studies conducted by lower-level engineers· The Engineer Manager will have an in-depth understanding of the IEEE standards for power system studies· Assisting Site Operations with substation restoration efforts when there is a relay operation· Provides engineering support and expertise on all systems included in the balance of plant: Transformers, Cables, Reactive Power Devices (dynamic and static), Substations, Relays, Breakers, and Power Plant Controllers· Responsible for leading and executing Request for Information (RFIs) from the ISOs, NERC, or other external entities requesting information · Responsible for reviewing and approving HV and MV equipment specifications for replacing end-of-life components or failures. Responsible for updating all pertinent information required due to equipment swaps (i.e., ETAP models, PSSE/PSCAD models, FAC-008, etc.)· Train and mentor engineers to develop their knowledge in power systems, electrical engineering operations, and applicable industry standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC, NEMA, etc.)· Responsible for conducting Power Plant Controller Testing. Understand the limitations of the sites to ensure the test runs successfully without inadvertently tripping or damaging equipment. Understand the various tests required (i.e., ERCOT AVR, PFR, NERC MOD-025, etc. ) and what evidence is needed for each test· Responsible for technical compliance with NERC standards pertaining to the electrical balance of the plant (i.e., PRC-019, PRC-024, PRC-025, MOD-025, etc.).· Provide recommendations on the Substation Maintenance Program utilizing industry best practices and standards· Responsible for providing substation restoration efforts during nights and weekendsJob Qualifications:· Master's or Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or Physics· Professional Engineer (PE) preferred· Minimum 6 years of professional experience with operating and analyzing high voltage power systems equipment· Minimum 6 years of professional experience applicable to electric power generation, generation management, and automatic generation control· Detailed knowledge of power generation and distribution equipment, transformers, switchgear, transmission feeders, substations, and renewable energy· Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and other industry/regulatory codes and standards· Experience with protective relays (transmission line protection, feeder protection, bus protection, transformer protection) and protection coordination studies· Familiar with conducting and analyzing power system studies such as Power Flow, Reactive Power, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies· Familiarity with the North American Electrical Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards· Familiarity with industry modeling software such as PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, TSAT, and ETAP· Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships· Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space· Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams· Strong leadership and communication and ability to meet deadlines· Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables· Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team· Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities· Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
