SUMMARY: A premier New York City real estate law firm with headquarters in midtown Manhattan is seeking a highly motivated and intelligent associate who is well versed in condo/coop real estate law. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience providing strategic legal advice to co-op and condominium board members on governance, operations, and regulatory compliance. The candidate should also be skilled in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting governing documents, negotiating and drafting leases and vendor contracts, and managing due diligence for both residential and commercial transactions. We currently offer the following benefits to our attorneys:Hybrid Schedule: Work remotely 2 days a week, as well as 2 weeks during the yearSummer FridaysPre-tax Commuter BenefitsMedical Insurance with firm participation10% match with 401KNo minimum billable hoursCLE reimbursementAnd much more.Benefits are subject to change according to the needs of the firmQualified candidates should submit their resume, along with salary expectations as soon as possibleESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide strategic legal advice to co-op and condominium board members and managing agents on governance, operations, and regulatory compliance.Draft, review, and interpret governing documents (e.g., bylaws, amendments, declarations).Draft, review, and negotiate AIA contracts as well as access agreements.Prepare offering plans for new developments and amendments to existing plans.Assist with enforcement of community regulations and filing of liens.Handle the transfer of co-op and condominium shares to individuals and/or other entities (e.g., estates).Negotiate and draft leases, vendor contracts, as well as other agreements.Other Duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:High degree of academic achievement with a law degree from an accredited U.S. law school.Active New York State Bar license and in good standing.Minimum of 10+ years of New York condo/coop law experience.Portable business would be a plus, but not required.Strong negotiating skills, excellent analytical and research skills.Interest in working with a collaborative team and flexible to handle all assigned tasks.Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications.Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and takes enormous pride in their work.Excellent interpersonal, oral, and writing skills to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff.Ability to independently multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.The compensation will be dependent on several factors including but not limited to years of experience involving these roles and responsibilities, years of experience within the industry, education, etc.The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
