Made up of a group of five companies focused on various aspects of the construction industry, they have proven to be a leader in multiple areas and specialties including heavy equipment operation and transportation, hoisting and rigging, crane operations and electrical safety.Our client provides exceptional career opportunities and growth potential through continuous collaboration across various the business lines.Position Summary:The Executive Vice President (EVP) for Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) will provide executive level leadership for our client's ESH function. This role is essential to drive the highest standards of performance in environmental compliance and sustainability, workplace safety, health and wellness in the high-risk construction industry and industrial environments.This position requires strategic skills and a strong mindset of continuous improvement to drive performance of ESH within the company to the next level. Executive level communication and collaboration skills are required to effectively communicate a strategy for improvement across the diverse set of projects, operations and industrial environments.Responsibilities:Developing and implementing a strategic plan that drives ESH performance improvement throughout the organization in alignment with the business objectivesDeveloping and implementing necessary corporate ESH policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and necessary to drive ESH excellence; ensuring effective and efficient implementation across the company's varied businessesWorking collaboratively with the Executive Team to implement strategies to achieve company objectivesEnsuring effective ESH oversight of projects and operations by providing effective leadership and support across multiple teams working in multiple locations across the United StatesWorking with existing ESH team members to drive a team approach that enhances the performances across all areas of responsibility for this key team.Hiring, training, and developing ESH staff that will contribute to the desired positive ESH mindset at all levels in the organization.Implement strategic priorities as agreed through the company's Strategy Deployment Process (SDP) that drive a culture of environmental, safety, and health excellence aligned with agreed priorities.Develop and implement effective ESH training to the workforce that promotes an enhanced safety culture and meets regulatory requirements.Developing collaborative relationships across the business, particularly with field project and construction managers and supervisors to influence and ensure effective and efficient policy implementationMaintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, industry groups, and unions on ESH related mattersEnsuring the executive team stay apprised of safety events in near real time and routinely communicate ESH key performance metrics, issues, risks and corrective action plans that address systemic problemsEnsuring processes tailored to the business are in place to address incident investigations, root cause determination, corrective action implementation and communicating lessons learnedDeveloping and implementing a Corporate Health and Wellness Program that promotes the corporate value of caring for our peopleDeveloping and operating within an established budget for ESHAccountabilities:Accountable to the CEO for execution of the broad range of duties and responsibilities outlined in this job descriptionAccountable to the various heads to provide advice, support, compliance and oversight to ESH programs, policies and regulationsAccountable to the Executive Team to provide updates of key performance indicators, issues and risksAccountable to the CFO to operate within a defined budgetQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferredPrefer relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Safety Instruction, Certified Qualified EngineerMinimum of 10 years of progressive experience in ESH leadership roles, with at least five years in a senior management positionExperience in construction safety to include heavy equipment operation and transportation, hoisting and rigging, crane operations, electrical safetyExperience working in a fast-paced multi-project organizationParticipation is recommended in national safety organizations such as American Society of Safety Professionals, American Society for Quality, Association of Crane and Rigging Professionals, etc.
