We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Medical Underwriter.PRIMARY PURPOSE The Medical Underwriter is responsible for the accurate and timely data, and financial analysis of various actuarial/financial projects for pricing of Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability programs for fully insured and self-funded plans for clients while ensuring regulatory compliance. Helps oversee and manage the workflow of Underwriting professionals to support company operations by maintaining office systems and supervising staff.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESEstablishes policy and procedures to assure compliance to best practices, underwriting management services standards, state regulations, and client service requirements.Oversees the work of assigned analysts, including project assignment and workflow.Monitors management reports relating to the area/office performance.Analyzes and performs audits of analysts work for liabilities and adherence to company standards.Resolves and adjusts errors and complaints.Performs additional duties as assigned.Supports the organization's quality program(s).Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.Administers company personnel policies in plan building areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.Maximizes performance within the team with the development of strategies that enhance productivityProvides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.Evaluate and manage staff performance.Implement procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency.Review and manage staff time cards.Review and approve staff overtime.Perform review and analysis of special projects and keep the management properly informed.Education & LicensingBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.ExperienceFive (5) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Skills & KnowledgeMust be able to demonstrate a high level of underwriting knowledge.Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills.Expert abilities within Excel.Analytical and interpretive skills.Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.Excellent interpersonal skills & customer service skills.Ability to handle multiple projects and set priorities.Ability to work in a team environment.Ability to meet or exceed Performance Standards.Benefits Offered:We recognize that talented people are attracted to companies that provide competitive pay, comprehensive benefit packages, and outstanding advancement opportunities.
