As the Director of Procurement - Construction, you will lead procurement operations for construction projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. This role involves developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, optimizing supply chain processes, and managing vendor relationships. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of construction procurement, supplier relationship management, and industry best practices. What You Can Expect To Do:Strategic Procurement Leadership:Develop and implement procurement strategies to support construction projects.Ensure cost efficiency, quality control, and on-time delivery of materials and services. Vendor & Supplier Management:Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements to secure the best terms.Contract Negotiation & Compliance:Manage RFPs, contract negotiations, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Ensure adherence to company policies and risk mitigation strategies.Budget & Cost Control:Collaborate with finance and project managers to manage procurement budgets.Track spending and drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality. Supply Chain Optimization:Oversee inventory management, logistics, and supply chain processes.Minimize disruptions and improve operational efficiency.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:Partner with construction teams, project managers, and executives.Align procurement strategies with business goals.Performance Monitoring:Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess supplier performance and procurement effectiveness.Implement continuous improvement strategies.What You Should Have:Required: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).Required: 8+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction industry.Strong negotiation skills and experience managing large-scale contracts and supplier agreements.Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and cost analysis tools.Deep understanding of construction materials, equipment, and industry regulations.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Experience:Experience working with general contractors, developers, or construction management firms.Strong knowledge of sustainable and cost-effective sourcing practices.Professional certifications such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPP (Certified Procurement Professional) are a plus.What You Should Be:A strategic thinker with a strong business mindset.A proactive leader who takes ownership of procurement operations.A detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills.An excellent communicator and collaborator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.A problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.About APEX:APEX is a nationwide Construction and Facilities Management firm founded to provide comprehensive support to owners of commercial real estate throughout the lifecycle of their investments.
