Friday Services has an opening in the San Francisco or Los Angeles office for a Counsel in our Labor & Employment Department. The ideal candidate will have nine to twelve years of relevant experience.QualificationsJuris Doctorate (JD) required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of California.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesExperience in defending against single plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, reasonable accommodation.Experience with PAGA matters.Experience with class actions.Ability to work cases from start to finish, independently.Strong research, writing skills, and academic record.Experience drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery.Experience drafting and arguing motions including dispositive and discovery motions,Experience taking and defending deposition including taking plaintiffs deposition and defending deposition of corporate witnessesExperience in employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations.Smaller portable book would be ideal; but, not required.Work Environment & Physical DemandsThis job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.Physical RequirementsSedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.Visual AcuityWorker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.Compensation & BenefitsThe salary range for this position applies to California. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position.
