Associate Attorney - Litigation

Seeking associate attorney for full time position with 5+ years of experience practicing in California state and federal civil litigation. Dynamic caseload consisting primarily of employment defense and medical malpractice insurance defense cases; some business litigation. Independently maintain caseload while procedurally advancing cases and prioritizing deadlines.Compensation & Benefits Base Compensation: $150,000/yearAnnual Billable Requirement: 1850 hrsBenefits: Blue Shield health insurance PPO (Firm pays part of monthly copayment); legal malpractice insurance; sick and flexible vacation; holidays, malpractice insurance, approved CLE reimbursement; convenient parkingSchedule: 5 days/week; May work remotely up to 2 days/week if billables and appearances are covered.QualificationsCivil Litigation in CA state or federal court (at least 5 years).Experience/lead in:mediations, depositions, motion practice, attending court appearances and oral argument; reviewing/summarizing records; legal research, drafting of memos, pleadings and letters, discovery, case strategy; case settlement.Self-starter, accountable, punctual, excellent communicator, team player, multi-tasker, hard-working and creative.JD degree, admission to California Bar in good standing.Responsibilities:Conduct thorough legal research using Lexis-Nexis to support case strategies.Draft legal documents and pleadings with precision, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.Attending court appearances and settlement conferences, negotiating settlements and representing clients in mediations, taking and defending depositions.Assisting to prepare cases for trial.Overseeing own caseload with oversite from supervising attorney.Cordial staff, great paralegals.Associate's work shall be performed under the general guidance of supervising attorney(s).Pleasant and collaborative working environment.
