As they continue to scale, they're looking for a talented Project Development Engineer to join their team and help drive the technical success of solar projects across the country.About the Role:The Project Development Engineer will be a key player in the early stages of the company's solar project pipeline. You will work closely with internal teams to evaluate, design, and optimize solar projects before they move to construction. Your role will involve overseeing technical due diligence, supporting site selection and layout, conducting feasibility assessments, and coordinating with other teams (finance, permitting, operations) to ensure projects are designed to meet both technical and financial goals.You'll play a crucial role in ensuring that every project is engineered for success, from initial concept through to construction handoff.Key Responsibilities:Technical Evaluation & Design: Support the technical evaluation of potential solar sites, including conducting feasibility studies, site assessments, and providing input on system design and layout to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.Site Analysis & Layout: Lead the process of designing system layouts, including electrical, mechanical, and civil considerations. Optimize the configuration to maximize energy production while minimizing costs and risks.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including finance, permitting, legal, and construction to ensure projects meet both technical and financial requirements.Permitting & Compliance: Coordinate with permitting and environmental teams to ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Support the preparation of necessary technical documents for permitting applications.Interconnection & Grid Analysis: Analyze grid interconnection requirements, conduct technical studies, and assist in the preparation of interconnection applications.Risk Management & Problem Solving: Identify technical risks early in the development process and provide innovative solutions to address them.Support Construction: Once projects are ready for construction, provide technical support to the construction team, ensuring designs are followed, and addressing any issues that arise during the build phase.Project Optimization: Continuously seek ways to optimize project designs for both cost-effectiveness and performance.What We're Looking For:Experience: 3+ years of experience in solar energy project development, engineering, or related fields (experience with community solar projects is a plus).Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of solar energy technologies, system design, electrical engineering principles, and layout optimization.Engineering Skills: Proficiency in software tools for system design, such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar programs.
