Job descriptionJob Title: CompounderDepartment: ManufacturingReports To: Vice President, OperationsHourly Wage: $18 - $24 per hourJob SummaryThe Compounder is responsible for accurately mixing and preparing ingredients to manufacture high-quality personal care products, including lotions, creams, and shampoos. This role ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while maintaining product consistency and quality. The Compounder plays a key role in continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.Essential Responsibilities1. Batch Preparation & ProcessingFollow SOPs and work order instructions to prepare batches ranging from 10kg to 1000kg.Accurately measure and mix ingredients using calibrated scales.Operate processing equipment, including mixers, pumps, and tanks.Monitor process parameters to ensure product quality and make necessary adjustments.Quality Control & ComplianceEnsure all production processes adhere to GMP standards and company SOPs.Maintain accurate batch records for verification.Draw product samples for laboratory testing.Identify and report discrepancies in batch preparation and implement corrective actions.Equipment ManagementSet up, operate, and clean manufacturing equipment per SOPs.Safely use drum manipulators, forklifts, and material handling equipment.Report equipment malfunctions and submit maintenance requests.Continuous Improvement & CollaborationParticipate in initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.Work with R&D and production teams to resolve issues and enhance processes.Assist in refining SOPs and manufacturing workflows.Safety & SanitationMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Follow sanitation procedures for equipment and workspaces.Qualifications & SkillsStrong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.Ability to read and interpret SOPs, safety data sheets, and technical documents.Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with manufacturing software.Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in personal care or food industries.2-5 years of leadership experience in cosmetics or personal care manufacturing (preferred).Forklift experience is a plus.Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical processes.Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.Key CompetenciesAnalytical thinking and problem-solving.Effective communication and teamwork.Adaptability and eagerness to learn new technologies.Strong organizational and time management skills.Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.Work EnvironmentExposure to various chemicals and raw materials used in personal care manufacturing.Work in a wet, humid, and sometimes dusty environment.Fast-paced manufacturing setting focused on experimentation and efficiency.Collaborative atmosphere that encourages teamwork and innovation.Physical RequirementsStand for more than 6 hours per shift.Regularly lift items weighing over 50 lbs.Wear PPE, including coveralls, safety glasses, and ear protection.Bend, squat, kneel, balance, and reach overhead.Climb ladders up to 4 feet.Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.NoteThis job description is not exhaustive and may evolve as the company continues to refine its processes and improve efficiency.
