The PositionTechnical DesignerLocationChicago, ILOverview:The Technical Designer will be supporting the buying team in providing high levels of accuracy for the overall fit, comfort, and construction of our apparel styles at AKIRA. You will be working cross-functionally with our buying team and vendors to communicate design and fit adjustments. In addition, the technical designer will be responsible for sample management and overall support to the buying team!Essential Functions:Attend weekly fittings to take notes on revisions and alterations for the apparelCommunicate all recorded sample corrections to the vendors in a timely mannerCollaborate with the buyers and designers to understand the concept/vision of the productUnpacking and hanging new samplesManagement and tracking of all samplesPrep and analyze garments prior to fittingsMaintain the technical design data for all samplesHelp in building a library of spec itemsTroubleshoot fit issues both on and off the model'sQualifications:Must have knowledge of textiles, pattern specification, and garment constructionStrong understanding of pattern specifications and measurements of specsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to work and stay organized in a fast-paced environmentAttention to detail, deadline-driven, and strong attention to detailFashion-related DegreeDiversity & Inclusion:At AKIRA we believe that treating everyone in a first-class manner is essential to fostering an inclusive environment that reflects our values and our community.
