Job DescriptionFinancial Analyst / Cost Accountant IISUMMARYThe Analyst/Accountant is responsible for cost accounting, material cost calculation and analysis, quoting and various financial reporting. This individual also participates in the forecast and budgeting process. This individual is also responsible for ad hoc projects as necessary. There is a potential for this to be a Senior Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant based upon skill and experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCollecting data to calculate, plan, forecast and/or analyze costs of business activity; including but not limited to: Raw materials, Labor, and Overhead CostsAnalyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard budgeted costs to actual production costsRecording cost information for use in controlling expendituresAnalyzing audits of costs and preparing reportsAnalyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on costMaking estimates of new and proposed product costsPrepare quotations for cost/pricing of large projects and analysis post close outProviding management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or servicesMaintaining Cost Accounting System and DatabasesAssist with inventory valuation and reportingReconciliation of Perpetual Inventory to GL Inventory BalancesWIP and Finished Good Inventory ValuationExcess and obsolescence Estimating and AnalysisAssist with Month end close of the General Ledger (with an emphasis on Inventory related entries)Development and maintenance of standardized reporting databasesData is used for internal performance reportingDevelopment and maintenance of standardized performance reportingPrepare internal monthly performance chartsPrepare external Monthly Performance Review (MPR) chartsCompile project & product costs and analyze variancesCalculate/review/maintain pricing for both standard and Non-Standard product offeringsWork with Engineering to appropriately price product offerings and large projectsReview of Pricing periodically to inform management when changes may be necessaryForecasting of future costs to determine pricing needed to achieve budgetTravel to manufacturing facilities on an as needed basisQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be needed to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE4+ years of Relevant ExperienceCost Accounting Experience in a Manufacturing Environment (preferred)Bachelors Degree in Accounting or FinanceMust have excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsSound understanding of accounting principlesStrong Cost systems background (preferred)Computer Literate - Strong Excel skills (advanced functions such as logical, lookup, reference and math functions required) and the ability to use Outlook and WordExperience with Workwise ERP a plusExperience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
