Job Title: Biologist/Viral Vector Development ScientistDuration:- 12+ Months Contract (Possible Extension/Conversion)Location: New York, NY100% OnsiteJob Description:The Process Development Scientist is a key member of the Viral Vector group and will play a critical role in our efforts to advance the development of AAV gene therapy pipeline drugs for neurodegenerative disorders. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on scientist with excellent interpersonal skills who is comfortable working in a cross-functional environment.Besides typical wet lab work, this opportunity goes beyond building one's technical expertise to serve as a launchpad of your career to gain multitudes of skillsets during extensive cross-functional collaborations. As process development relates to analytical development, quality, preclinical R&D, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, this is an ideal opportunity to offer significant exposure to genetic medicine's whole drug development process. This paradigm-shifting technology modality will shape the future of human health.Key responsibilities:Drive the viral vector process to deliver internal productions of recombinant AAVs and baculovirusesDesign and execute molecular/cellular experiments, including PCR techniques and cell culture, to support bioprocess sample testing to guide the process optimizationManage experimental workflows and vector inventory through electronic lab notebook documentation of experimental data, protocols, and reportsAssist in the group efforts on vector expression system upgrade, cell line development and characterization, and AAV capsidsRequirementsMSc with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ years of relevant experience in a scientific discipline such as molecular/cell biology, genetics, virology, or a related fieldAdditional Skills/PreferencesProficiency in cell culture and molecular biology techniques (transfection, molecular cloning)Knowledge or preferably experience in AAV and/or baculovirusStrong interpersonal and organizational communication skills, and a good team playerCreative thinking, attention to detail, and efficient project management in a fast-paced work environment
