Our rich diversity of people and ideas makes us a stronger, more innovative organization.Job SummaryThe Estimator is responsible for preparing estimates and bids for construction projects, reviewing plans & specifications, and analyzing project costs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and experience with cost estimating software.ResponsibilitiesAvailability to participate with Project Manager and Client to a preliminary walk through of the construction drawings. Excellent organizational and communication skills.Ability to read and understand design schematics, maps and create red-lines or as-builts.Prepares and estimates budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.Evaluates Change Requests additions, and costing changes.Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.Writes up and presents budgets, reports, project schedules and project plans.Develops bids for construction projects.Works closely with vendors, Suppliers & Sub-contractors, and other professionals.Schedules meetings with clients, site Construction managers, and staff.Navigates and understands High Voltage Grade Energy Transmission plans.Navigates and understands Mid Voltage Grade Energy Distribution plans.Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required.Monitors construction processes.Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.Develop mitigation measures and corrective actions for the objective findings of observations and inspection deficiencies to reduce the risk of hazards from recurring within the organization.Recommend safe work processes and demonstrate personal protective equipment safety features that will reduce employee exposure to workplace and environmental hazards.Provide monthly Major materials utilization and inventory report.Maintain inventory of Major Materials release until installed.QualificationsMinimumA Construction management degree or Civil Engineering degree.5 years of construction project experience.Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Advanced experience in schedule management.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to read blueprints accurately. Ability to communicate progress, highlight issues, and provide recommendations to senior leadership.Safety training and knowledge of OSHA requirements.Safety training and knowledge of OSHA requirements.Preferred QualifiationsA bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field of study.5 or more years of construction project experience. Previous supervisory experience.Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications. Fundamental knowledge of Primavera P6.OSHA 20 Certification. Previous utility construction project estimator experience.Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment.
