Duties and Responsibilities:Use equipment such as slicers, scales, knives, and grinders.Follow safety and sanitation guidelines in a meat processing environment.Fulfill custom orders and meet customer specifications.Rotate products properly using the first in, first out method.Perform all other duties as assigned.Qualifications:One or more years of meat processing experience.Familiarity with using equipment such as slicers, scales, knives, and grinders.Experience in breaking large cuts of meat and portioning them for sale.Knowledge of safety and sanitation guidelines in a meat processing environment.Ability to fulfill custom orders and meet customer specifications.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Competencies:Attendance: Consistently on time for work and completing normal work hours.Safety: Safety consciousness in the work environment and equipment. Keeps work area free of debris to prevent trip and slip hazards. Stores all products and equipment in their proper locations. Ensures all safety guards and other safety devices are in their proper location, are functional, and utilized effectively on a consistent basis. Follows standard operating procedures, safety work rules, and good general manufacturing practices daily.Communication: Communicate orally and in writing, with clarity and good effect. Understand clearly and quickly as instructions or orders are received. Use good judgment about which information is important and what is not, and what should be communicated, how, to whom, and when.Care and Use of Equipment: Respectful care of equipment and always using equipment properly and safely. Perform maintenance as necessary, check for defects, perform operations checks of job-related equipment, and clean equipment regularly.Quality Management: Dedicated to providing the highest quality products and services which meet the needs and requirements of internal and external customers. Commit to continuous improvement through empowerment and management by data. Work in conjunction with all team members to focus on high quality production, safety, and efficiency.Physical Demands:Constantly move about inside the plant.Use scales for weighing products.Properly use knives, meat hooks, vacuum sealers, water hoses, and tape guns to prepare and package products.Occasionally remain in a stationary position while processing orders and frequently position self to move boxes and products positioned near ground level.Occasionally operate computer and printer for labeling.Regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 100 pounds.Operate an electric pallet jack when needed.Work Environment:Frequently exposed to cold environments in coolers and freezers.Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Due to exposure to food, employees are required to wear personal protective equipment, including slip-resistant shoes, hair nets, and beard covers while in the plant.
