USM is proud to make a difference for its clients, consumers and local communities as it continues to drive forward into the next forty years and beyond.Position Overview The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and documentation of all incoming and outgoing shipments. This individual supports the maintenance, accuracy, and proactive planning of all customer shipments. Reports to the Shipping & Receiving Manager.Summary of ResponsibilitiesOffers loads to transportation brokers and carriers, captures proof of delivery, and updates corresponding data in the system of record.Coordinates the use of transportation brokers and carriers in order to achieve cost per load targets established on each lane, and the overall cost per mile target.Communicates with transportation brokers and carriers to resolve problems as they arise and minimize potential delays with both pickup and delivery.Prepares transportation bills, load authorizations, packaging slips, and any other necessary documentation required for shipments; contacts various consumers and brokers to coordinate pickups.Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.Resolves internal and external issues to ensure the department is efficient in meeting customer needs.Communicates the coordination of and instructions for shipping and receiving of materials with carrier representatives.Compiles and prepares import/export reports and documents.Regularly communicates any safety or job-related concerns.Other duties as assigned.Desired CharacteristicsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; similar role experience a plusFluency in both English and Spanish preferred (read, write, speak)Excellent oral and written English language communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)Ability to quickly and accurately input data into various computer software applicationsDemonstrated flexibility to multi-task and work autonomously in a fast-paced environmentAble to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the manager and / or business needs of the operationMinimum Safety Training RequirementsBasic on-the-job training that satisfies the Primary Objectives of the specific position (as noted above)US-SOP-01 United in Safety ManualUS-F11 QEH&S PolicyUS-SOP-03 Team Member HandbookWe strive to demonstrate our Core Values in all positions at USM:Trust ?
