Bioinformatics Pipeline Engineer

Our client is a fast-growing biotech company on a mission to revolutionize DNA sequencing and data analysis, enabling scientists around the world"”from Nobel laureates to innovative startups"”to make world-changing discoveries.We're looking for a Bioinformatics Pipeline Engineer with strong software engineering experience to design, develop, and optimize high-performance bioinformatics workflows. You'll work closely with scientists and engineers to ensure their pipelines are robust, scalable, and maintainable, ultimately helping researchers save time and push the boundaries of scientific innovation.What You'll Do:Develop and maintain new bioinformatics pipelines using Snakemake and/or Nextflow.Ensure backend systems follow software engineering best practices for performance, reliability, and maintainability.Optimize pipelines for scalability and troubleshoot complex bioinformatics workflows.Collaborate with scientists and engineers to align pipeline goals with experimental needs.Provide technical support and training on pipeline usage.Stay up-to-date with emerging bioinformatics tools and integrate them into workflows.What We're Looking ForRequired Skills & Experience:3+ years of experience developing bioinformatics pipelines in a production environment.Strong software engineering skills with Snakemake, Nextflow, Python, AWS, and Conda.Experience following backend development best practices for scalability and maintainability.Exposure to Oxford Nanopore and Illumina DNA sequencing technologies.Bonus Points for:Master's or PhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.Experience with Docker/Apptainer/Singularity, Git/GitHub, SQL, and cloud-based workflows.Knowledge of performance-optimized languages (C++, Rust, etc.) and AWS tools (Lambda, S3, RDS).Why Join?Competitive salary + equity options.4 weeks PTO + 10 paid holidays.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) with matching.Additional perks: life insurance, mental health coverage, health advocacy, and gym membership.
