Position SummaryThe Tire Distribution Center Manager I has overall responsibility for the management of a tire and parts distribution center operation in the Service network. The position is responsible for execution of processes and procedures that create the best use of assets to ensure that we have the most effective distribution network to improve fill rate accuracy, customer service and profitability. This position directs all aspects of a distribution operation including merchandise inventory, shipping and receiving, and maintenance of facilities as well as ensures timely deliveries to maximize sales.Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and proceduresComply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actionsSafeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocolsControl inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage systemMaintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment and issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacementAchieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actionsComplete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work resultsMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societiesContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesHigh school diploma or equivalent is requiredBachelor degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred5 - 7 years of experience in supply chain or operation management is required; auto parts or tire experience is preferred3 - 5 years of supervisory experience is requiredProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is requiredExcellent management and leadership skillsMust be customer driven with a strong business acumenStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsMust have a coaching style that builds teamworkAbility to exercise good judgment and work independentlyStrong organizational skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at every level of the organizationAbility to demonstrate consistency, accuracy and follow-throughAbility to work under tight time constraints, handle sensitive data, and multi-task so that deadlines can be metMust be highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time efficiently with the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentPhysical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
