ResponsibilitiesRisk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks related to construction projects and corporate matters, advising on strategies to limit company exposure.Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including construction contracts, vendor agreements, service agreements, and licensing agreements, ensuring terms align with the company's operational and financial objectives.Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Stay current on local, state, and federal regulations affecting construction and corporate operations; advise on compliance requirements and implement appropriate policies to ensure adherence.Dispute Resolution & Claims Management: Act as the primary legal advisor on construction-related disputes, managing claims, change orders, and litigation, and working with outside counsel as needed.Business Advisory & Strategy Support: Provide practical, business-oriented advice on day-to-day operations, project bids, and business decisions; partner with senior leadership to shape strategies that support growth while minimizing legal risks.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across development, construction, finance, and operations to address complex issues with comprehensive legal and business solutions.Policy Development & Training: Develop and implement legal policies, templates, and best practices; provide training sessions to ensure company teams understand legal requirements and risk management strategies.External Partnerships Management: Coordinate and oversee work with outside counsel and consultants on specialized matters, managing costs and ensuring alignment with company objectives.Documentation & Records Management: Maintain organized records of legal documents, project files, and contracts to ensure efficient access, retrieval, and legal compliance.Other duties as assignedRequirementsEducation:Juris Doctor degree and admitted to practice law in the United StatesExperience:5-10 years' relevant experience in construction, real estate development, and/or corporate mattersSkills/Abilities:Expertise in providing legal and business counsel on construction and corporate mattersSolutions-focused approach to problem-solvingHigh-level skill in drafting and negotiating legal documentsAbility to articulate complex legal issues in simple, understandable termsStrong collaboration and teamwork abilitiesAbility to balance legal considerations with business objectivesAdaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and strategic thinking skillsEffective communication and negotiation abilitiesStrong work ethic and reliabilityLitigation experience helpfulAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesBenefits & PerksOur full-time employees are eligible for these benefits and perks:Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance including HSAPaid Birth & Bonding LeaveEmployer Paid Basic Life InsuranceEmployer Paid Short-Term DisabilityVoluntary Life, AD&D, Long-Term Disability, Critical Illness, and Accident insurance401k MatchEquity Opportunity with Company MatchCompetitive PTO and Paid HolidaysGym Membership ReimbursementFree Stays in our Properties' Guest SuitesRent Discount at Roers Cos.
